Freight Forwarders, Cargo Operators, Shipping Lines, Airlines, Transport and Warehouse Operators only ever carry a limited liability based on their own conditions of trading.

The importers of uninsured goods damaged or lost in transit will seldom (if ever) be fully compensated in the event of a claim.

Therefore the only real safeguard for an importer is to take out Marine Insurance for the value of the goods.

• Marine cargo is available in different forms, e.g. annual policies, single voyage cover, etc. Even then some restrictions may apply.
